Hi, I'm Ajit Deb, a freelance photographer living and working in London. I was born here and still call it home.
I've always had an interest in photography and making family home videos from a young age. I used to watch my dad in awe with his Polaroid, as photos were instantly printed. He then had a series of film cameras, one of which I took it upon myself to start taking photographs at the age of 11. In 2003 I'd bought my first camera, and a digital one at that, the Konika Revio KD-400Z. It was a simple point and shoot camera, but images saved to an SD card instead of film, so this was revolutionary for me! The following year, I purchased my very first camcorder, the Sony DCR-IP1, which at the time was the world's smallest video tape recorder. This, I would say, was the start of my fondness for videography.
In 2014 and I'd finally decided to take the plunge and start my career as a freelance photographer. I began to build a small home studio for family and newborn portraits, as well as shooting weddings in and around the Bristol area, where I lived at the time. I continued to expand upon my studio, so that I was able to bring a fully fledged studio to my clients, at their home and their convenience.
While I was immensely honoured to have been the official wedding photographer for over 30 couples, and helped numerous families create wonderful memories, in that time I have been learning, and adapting, and creating landscape and astroscape images. My love for the outdoors has taken me to some of the most magnificent locations I'd ever seen, and as ever, has given me the opportunity to adapt new skills and techniques which I hope I can express through these images.
What now seems to be a natural progression, I've taken to video a lot more recently than I had previously at any time in my career. It's still a craft I am learning day by day, but video gives me new and varied challenges which can be unique. One such avenue, is my YouTube channel, which gives me an amazing platform to build upon some of those techniques, but also to share some of the things I find interesting and helpful, in my world of photography and videography.
So finally, please come say hello! It's always nice to hear from like minded people who love and share in the same things, and also if you would like to consider collaborating, or indeed, consider me as your photographer.
